Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district have received financial support and equipment from the Akatsi North District Assembly as part of its commitment to improving their livelihoods and promoting inclusive development.
The support, which forms part of the Assembly’s allocation from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for PWDs, is aimed at addressing key needs in education, healthcare and small-scale business development.
Beneficiaries received cash grants to help pay school fees, cover medical expenses and invest in income-generating activities, as well as sewing machines to support vocational work.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News after the presentation, the District Chief Executive for Akatsi North, Bless Katamani, said the initiative is intended to empower PWDs to become more self-reliant and actively contribute to the socio-economic development of the district.
He noted that supporting vulnerable groups remains a top priority and aligns with government and national efforts to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process.
Mr Katamani urged beneficiaries to use the funds and sewing machines for their intended purposes to ensure lasting impact. He also encouraged parents and guardians of students with disabilities to prioritise education, while advising those engaged in business activities to manage the support prudently.
Some beneficiaries, in separate interviews with Adom News, expressed gratitude to the Assembly, describing the support as timely and life-changing. They said the financial assistance and equipment would ease their burdens and help improve their living conditions.
The Akatsi North District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining such interventions and strengthening monitoring mechanisms to ensure that support reaches the right beneficiaries and delivers meaningful results.
