The Amasaman High Court has reduced the prison sentence of controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa, ruling that her original punishment was excessive.

In a decision delivered on Thursday, February 5, 2026, the court upheld her conviction but revised the length of her custodial term to 12 calendar months.

The presiding judge stated that the initial sentence of 15 years with hard labour, imposed by the trial court, was disproportionate to the circumstances of the case and required adjustment.

The court directed that the revised sentence run from the date of her conviction on July 3, 2025, meaning Nana Agradaa will now serve a total of one year in prison.

While noting that the offence warranted punishment, the court emphasised that fairness and proportionality must guide sentencing, leading to the significant reduction in her jail term.

Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned self-styled evangelist, was previously sentenced to 15 years, a judgment that sparked widespread public debate and legal scrutiny across the country.

With the appellate ruling, her conviction remains in force, but the duration of her incarceration has been substantially shortened.
