The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather warning over a weak to moderate rainstorm moving westward from the coast of Togo toward Ghana, with possible thunderstorms expected to affect parts of the country today.

According to the Agency, the rainstorm—currently over the ocean—is likely to bring increased cloudiness and intermittent rainfall or thunderstorms of varying intensity along Ghana’s eastern coastal areas, particularly in the Volta and Greater Accra regions, during the morning hours.

The system is expected to continue westward and may later affect western coastal areas, including the Central and Western regions, as the day progresses.

GMet also cautioned that mist or fog patches are likely to form over forested and mountainous areas in the early morning, potentially reducing visibility for motorists and commuters. Meanwhile, northern Ghana is forecast to experience slightly hazy conditions during the same period.

By the afternoon, partly cloudy skies are expected across much of southern Ghana, with localized thunderstorms or rainfall possible in parts of the middle and transition belts from late afternoon into the evening.

The northern sector, on the other hand, is expected to remain largely dry, with sunny conditions and slight haze dominating the afternoon weather.

The Agency has urged the public—particularly road users and coastal communities—to stay alert to changing weather conditions and take the necessary precautions as the system develops.
