Ghana international defender Jonas Adjetey has sealed a move to German Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg, completing the transfer on winter deadline day.
The centre-back has put pen to paper on a long-term deal that will keep him at the Volkswagen Arena until 2030, marking a significant step forward in his club career.
Wolfsburg sporting director Pirmin Schwegler hailed the signing, highlighting Adjetey’s physical presence and defensive qualities.
“Jonas is a physically strong player, quick and dominant in duels. He brings exactly the qualities we need in our defence,” he said.
“Over the past three and a half years at FC Basel, he proved himself both in the league and internationally. We have high expectations for Jonas and are convinced he will immediately strengthen our team,” he added.
The transfer is believed to be worth around €10 million.
Adjetey arrives from Swiss side FC Basel, where he made 15 appearances across all competitions this season and established himself as a key figure in defence.
The 24-year-old, who has featured for Ghana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, will be eager for regular playing time in Germany as he pushes to secure a place in the Black Stars squad ahead of the World Cup, set to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
