Nollywood filmmaker and actor Stanley Amandi has been arrested in connection with an alleged coup plot involving some officers of the Nigerian military, according to a report by Premium Times.

Amandi, a director and former chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Enugu State chapter, was reportedly taken into custody in September 2025.

Details of his alleged involvement in the plot have only recently emerged.

Sources cited by Premium Times claim Amandi was recruited by the suspected plotters to serve as a propagandist as part of a broader plan authorities believe was aimed at unlawfully removing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration from power.

The Defence Headquarters has since confirmed that investigations into the alleged coup plot have been concluded.

It said military officers implicated in the matter will be subjected to military judicial processes, including court-martial, describing the alleged conduct as a breach of the ethics and professional standards of the Armed Forces.

Civilians linked to the case, including Amandi, are expected to face trial in civil courts, while proceedings against the military personnel will be handled through the appropriate military judicial panels.
