Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed gratitude to New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) supporters for their support throughout the flagbearer contest.
Speaking at his campaign office, Dr Bawumia expressed appreciation for the confidence shown in his leadership and paid tribute to the party’s past flagbearers.
“It is an honour to stand on the shoulders of former flagbearers like Prof Adu Boahene, J.A. Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I thank you all for making this happen,” he said.
He also acknowledged the efforts of his campaign team, party executives and delegates across the country for what he described as a disciplined and competitive process.
The Presidential Hopeful made these remarks after the campaign manager, Frederick Opare-Ansah, presented provisional collated figures from about 85 per cent of polling centres at the campaign office.
Presenting the update, Mr Opare-Ansah told the gathering that the trend pointed strongly in Dr Bawumia’s favour.
“Your Excellency, from what I have presented so far, it can only get better and you are cruising to a comfortable lead,” he said.
The announcement sparked jubilation among party supporters, who broke into party songs while chanting “It is Bawumia, no change.”
