After completing a tour of all 276 constituencies across Ghana, presidential hopeful Dr. Bryan Acheampong says the future of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) depends on how effectively it supports its grassroots base.
Reflecting on the journey, the Abetifi MP described the experience as eye-opening and energising, noting that he encountered the true spirit of the party in towns, villages, and urban communities alike.
Addressing the media in Accra, the former Minister for Food and Agriculture said the tour allowed him to connect directly with supporters who sustain the party beyond election seasons.
From Elubo to Aflao and Cape Coast to Nkwanta, Dr. Acheampong said he met foot soldiers, coordinators, and polling station executives who continue to work for the NPP despite limited resources. He praised their consistency and loyalty, describing them as the engine that drives every campaign.
“This is the Osono party, the Didamiya party, the Atiglinyi party. Party papabi!” he said, using the slogan to highlight the identity and resilience of the party’s grassroots network.
Acheampong stressed that appreciation alone is not enough, insisting that the party must invest directly in those at the base. He pledged to provide foot soldiers with logistics, training, and organisational support to help them mobilise effectively in their communities.
“The grassroots are not spectators. They are the backbone of victory,” he noted, adding that a strong party is built first at the polling station before it reflects at the national level.
He explained that his nationwide engagement was not just a campaign routine but an effort to listen, understand local challenges, and shape a leadership approach that prioritises empowerment from below.
By touring every constituency, Acheampong said he has gained firsthand insight into what party supporters need to work confidently and productively. He believes that with proper resourcing and motivation, the NPP can rebuild its strength from the ground up and reconnect with its base ahead of future elections.
