The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued detailed guidelines for the conduct of party elections across all branches, constituencies, regions, and at the national level, as part of efforts to ensure free, fair, and transparent processes.

In a statement, the party explained that branch executives—including Chairmen, Secretaries, Treasurers, Organisers, Communications Officers, and Women and Youth Organisers—will be elected following specific eligibility criteria.

Aspirants must be paid-up party members, at least 18 years old, and active in the party for a minimum of one year. Voting at branches will be conducted by members, and positions will be determined by a simple majority.

Each branch is also required to appoint specialized committees within a month after elections: Research, Disciplinary, and Electoral Committees, all serving a four-year term alongside branch executives. These committees are tasked with research, enforcement of party rules, and election management, respectively.

Ward Coordinators and their committees will be elected at the ward level, with similar membership and voting requirements. Constituency, regional, and national conferences will follow structured processes for nominations, vetting, voting, and appeals. All positions—including top executive roles at regional and national levels—require aspirants to be active members in good standing, with filing fees varying by position, gender, and disability status.

The guidelines also provide detailed procedures for membership verification, authentication of registers, nomination and vetting of candidates, voting methods, and dispute resolution mechanisms, ensuring accountability at every stage of the elections.

The NDC’s national congress, scheduled for December 2026, will see the election of the party’s highest decision-making body, including the National Chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, Communication Officer, Zongo Caucus Coordinator, and other executive members.

The party emphasized strict adherence to its Constitution and the oversight of the Electoral Commission to guarantee credibility in the election process, reinforcing internal democracy and transparency.
