The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has started the construction of three major school infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening second-cycle education delivery within the municipality.
The Kwadaso Methodist Technical Institute, Agric Nzema Senior High School, and Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School are all set to gain from the investment.
The projects include the construction of a two-story administration block, a two-story classroom block, a two-story dormitory, and two washroom facilities at the Kwadaso Methodist Technical Institute.
The Agric Nzema SHS will get a two-story classroom block with water tanks and a reservoir, as well as a dining hall with a fully-furnished kitchen.
Also, Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School will receive a three-story, 18-unit classroom block and a two-story dormitory.
The facilities are expected to greatly improve learning conditions, ease overcrowding in classrooms and dormitories, and enhance sanitation.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Assibey; Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko; along with officials from the Kwadaso Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), and traditional leaders launched the projects.
The projects under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) are expected to be completed within 24 months by Engineering Face Limited.
Kwadaso MCE Eric Assibey, in an interview said the projects form part of the government’s commitment to strengthening education infrastructure across the country.
He urged contractors to adhere strictly to specifications, use high-quality and durable materials, and complete the works within the agreed timelines.
The MCE further emphasized the need to engage local skilled labor and artisans, particularly from the Kwadaso Municipality, as part of efforts to promote local economic participation and ownership.
The Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso Constituency, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, commended the government for initiating key infrastructure projects in schools within the municipality.
He described the projects as timely interventions that will significantly ease the burden of teaching and learning in the beneficiary institutions.
He said he will ensure funds needed for the contractor to complete the projects are released promptly, ensuring the project stays on track and is completed without delays.
The heads of the beneficiary schools welcomed the development.
The Kwadaso Methodist Technical Institute (MTI), Mr. Kwame Adu Kese, the headmistress of Agric Nzema Senior High, Mrs. Gladys Safowah, and the headmistress of Yaa Asantewaa Senior High, Mrs. Felicia Asamoah Danquah, expressed gratitude to the government for addressing their infrastructural needs.
They said that these projects will boost the schools’ infrastructure, create a better learning environment, and ultimately enhance academic performance.
The headteachers also called on GETFund to ensure timely release of funds to the contractor to avoid project delays.
