Police arrest suspects in Kunsu robbery incident

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with a robbery incident that occurred at Kunsu in the Ashanti Region on December 7, 2025.

The suspects were arrested on January 21, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. during an intelligence-led operation at Kunsu.

The operation was carried out by personnel of the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi, in collaboration with officers from the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Directorate at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

Police identified the suspects as Yahaya Siedu, also known as “Diamond,” aged 34; Atta Israel, alias “Abode3” or “Stone,” aged 32; Victor Gyan, also called “City Boy,” aged 26; and Stanley Wiafe Akanten, alias “Figo,” aged 30.

Investigations indicate that the suspects are members of a criminal syndicate responsible for a series of robbery attacks in Kunsu and its surrounding communities.

A search conducted in the room of Yahaya Siedu led to the recovery of two pump-action guns, three cutlasses, five mobile phones, twenty-two BB cartridges, and an amount of GH¢5,400.00.

One of the firearms, identified as a Pardus shotgun, was confirmed to have been stolen during the robbery incident along the Kunsu–Mankranso road on December 7, 2025.

Police said the suspects have admitted to conspiring to rob miners of cash, gold concentrate, and other valuables.

They are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
