Professor of English and Linguistics at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Yaw Sakyi Baidoo, has endorsed Kennedy Ohene Agyapong as the best candidate to lead Ghana, citing his experience in job creation for the youth.
According to Prof. Sakyi Baidoo, Ghana has previously elected leaders who are lawyers, economists, and doctors, but none have effectively tackled unemployment.
He argued that it is now time for a businessman to lead the country, someone who understands how to generate jobs.
He urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritize the welfare and development of Ghana over personal interests.
Speaking to the media, Prof. Sakyi Baidoo highlighted that universities across the country have produced numerous graduates since independence, yet access to jobs remains a major challenge because leaders lack practical knowledge in job creation.
He also expressed concern about Ghana’s continued dependence on imported rice and onions, despite having vast arable land that could support local production.
“Ghanaians need a leader who can bring discipline, create jobs, and develop the country,” he said, adding that Kennedy Agyapong possesses the qualities to achieve these goals.
Prof. Sakyi Baidoo further cautioned NPP delegates against being swayed by propaganda from other candidates targeting Kennedy Agyapong. He noted that the younger generation, particularly Gen Z, is more interested in solutions and opportunities than in political rhetoric.
He concluded by urging delegates to make the right choice in the upcoming primaries, emphasizing that voting against Kennedy Agyapong could jeopardize the party’s chances in the 2028 elections.
