The Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Mponua, Seth Osei Akoto, has completed and commissioned an 18-year-abandoned Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Okyerekrom.

The completion of the project now provides essential healthcare services to about 20 rural communities in the area.

Originally started in 2008 to improve healthcare delivery, the CHPS compound had remained abandoned for nearly two decades, leaving residents exposed to serious health risks.

For years, community members were forced to travel several kilometres to Nyinahini to access medical care, a situation that reportedly contributed to loss of lives, particularly during emergencies.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Osei Akoto emphasized that completing abandoned health projects is a key priority on his parliamentary agenda. He noted that the newly commissioned CHPS compound will greatly enhance healthcare delivery and ease the burden on residents seeking medical services.
