The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi North, Bless Katamani, has cut the sod for the construction of two three-unit classroom blocks at Hadave and Avevoe D/A Primary Schools in the Akatsi North District of the Volta Region, as part of efforts to strengthen basic education infrastructure.
The ceremony, attended by community members, traditional leaders, teachers, and pupils, underscores the District Assembly’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for children.
The new projects are aimed at addressing classroom deficits, reducing overcrowding, and enhancing access to quality education across the district.
Speaking to Adom News after the ceremony, the DCE emphasized that education remains a top priority for the Akatsi North District Assembly. He noted that the facilities will improve teaching and learning conditions and motivate both teachers and pupils to achieve better academic outcomes.
He reiterated the shared commitment of the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament, Nortsu-Kotoe Kwasi Peter, to ensure that no school in the district operates under trees by the end of the year.
Once completed, the three-unit classroom blocks will feature offices and sanitary facilities to meet standard school infrastructure requirements. Contractors on site assured stakeholders of quality work and adherence to project timelines.
The DCE appealed to community members to support the contractors to ensure timely completion of the projects.
Community leaders from Hadave and Avevoe expressed gratitude to the government and the District Assembly for addressing long-standing educational infrastructure needs and pledged to help protect and maintain the facilities.
Teachers and pupils welcomed the initiative, describing it as a morale booster that will positively impact school attendance and academic performance.
