Hwidiem Paramount Chief backs government’s 24-Hour Economy market initiative

The Paramount Chief of Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region, Osuodumgya Barima Apea-Dwaah Boafo, has described the government’s plan to introduce 24-hour economy markets across the country as a commendable initiative that deserves the full support of all stakeholders.

He made the remarks during an inspection of the proposed site for the 24-hour economy market in Hwidiem, conducted by chiefs, officials of the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), and staff of the Asutifi South District Assembly.

Speaking to Adom News, the Paramount Chief said the construction of a modernised market in Hwidiem would significantly boost local economic activities and help reduce unemployment, particularly among the youth.

He added that the Hwidiem Traditional Council is pleased that the district capital has been selected for the project and pledged its full support to ensure successful implementation.

Also speaking to Adom News, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South, Mr. Benjamin Assabil Donkor, expressed satisfaction with the RCC’s approval of the proposed site, which is the town’s weekly market square.

He explained that although the district has several land options, the decision to use the existing market square was deliberate to ensure the project achieves its intended purpose.

The DCE noted that the 24-hour economy market presents numerous opportunities for the district and urged residents of Asutifi South to rally behind the government to make the project a success.
