Christford Affadu Danful, also known as Ekow Black, has been remanded in police custody over a viral video showing him physically assaulting a woman believed to be his lover, as well as fresh allegations of sextortion.
Danful was arrested on Thursday, January 15, 2026, by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team after a video circulated on social media showing him attacking the woman.
Police say preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had previously lived together and had ongoing disagreements that escalated into physical violence.
The following day, Friday, January 16, 2026, Danful appeared before the Adabraka District Court, presided over by Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo.
The court ordered that he remain in police custody and reappear on January 21, 2026, to allow further investigations to continue.
In addition to the assault case, police are probing new allegations that Danful threatened to circulate intimate images of the woman, a crime consistent with sextortion.
Authorities say both the assault and sextortion claims are being thoroughly investigated.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to protecting citizens and taking decisive action against acts of physical and cyber-related abuse.
Danful remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
