The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called on party faithful to remain calm, united and avoid pettiness, urging them to fully support the government and its appointees.
He made the call while addressing a charged gathering during the party’s nationwide Thank-You Tour in the Bono Region.
Mr Asiedu Nketia stressed that unity within the party was critical to sustaining the development agenda of the John Mahama-led administration.
He cautioned supporters against what he described as the “I have not gotten anything” mindset, urging them instead to work diligently to help the party retain power, noting that many opportunities would come with time.
According to him, internal divisions and unnecessary complaints could weaken the party and undermine its ability to deliver on its promises to the Ghanaian people.
Touching on party restructuring, the NDC National Chairman advised delegates to be discerning when the party opens nominations for internal elections.
He urged them to retain hardworking and committed executives who laboured to return the party to power during its time in opposition, while voting out those who were ineffective.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Jinijini, Nana Tutu Baffour II, used the occasion to appeal to the government to prioritise the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital project in the Berekum West Municipality.
He also called for the urgent rehabilitation of the deplorable Berekum–Sampa Road, describing it as vital to economic activity in the area.
