Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has insisted he would leave the club with his head held high if relieved of his duties, amid growing speculation over his future.
Pressure has mounted on the former Black Satellites coach following a run of inconsistent results, raising questions about his long-term position at the club.
Kotoko’s latest setback came on Sunday when they were held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Berekum Chelsea in a Matchday 18 encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Addressing the media after the match, Zito defended his record, pointing to trophies already secured and the team’s sustained competitiveness across all competitions.
“If I leave Kotoko today, I will leave with pride. In less than a year, we have won trophies, including the Toyota Cup,” he said. “We remain in the FA Cup, and in the league, the title is still open, with any team in the top five capable of winning it.”
Asante Kotoko currently sit 4th on the league log with 31 points.
Zito will now aim to steer the Porcupine Warriors back to winning ways when they face defending champions Bibiani GoldStars at DUN’s Park in their Matchday 19 fixture on Sunday.
