The Chief of Edwenase in the Amansie Central District has donated food items and clothing to widows and provided support for youth to undergo skills training in the community.

The gesture was carried out when the Odikro of Edwenase, Nana Mathew Ntonsua, presented items including clothes, bags of rice, cooking oil, and other essential supplies to widows, while some youth received assistance to pursue skills training. Schoolchildren in the community were also given uniforms.

The event took place at Edwenase, near Mile 9 in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking to Adom News, Nana Ntonsua, who is also the First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Odotobire Constituency, said the donation has become an annual exercise. He disclosed that about 70 beneficiaries were supported this year.

According to him, the initiative is driven by the need to reduce hardship and emotional stress among vulnerable members of the community, noting that prolonged sadness can negatively affect people’s health and overall well-being.

He advised the youth to remain committed to their skills training and urged parents to support their children to successfully complete their apprenticeship programmes to secure a better future.

Some of the beneficiary widows and youth expressed gratitude to the chief, describing the donation as timely and helpful. The youth beneficiaries also pledged to take their training seriously to improve their livelihoods.
