Nine remanded for assault on police officers in Ashanti region

The Obuasi Circuit Court has remanded into prison custody nine people arrested in connection with the assault of police officers at Tweapease Senior High School Park in the Ashanti Region.

This was after the suspects appeared before the court on January 8, 2026, following the circulation of a video showing the altercation involving the officers on duty at the park.

The individuals remanded are Joshua Frimpong, popularly known as Joey B; Bannor Williams; Isaac Dwumfour, also called Sporty; Evans Bannor, also called Pressure King; Asiedu Ronald, known as Case Close; Sarfo Alex, referred to as Okele; Yaw Alex; Obidiaba Desmond; and Agyemang Emmanuel.

They have been charged with assault on public officers.

The suspects, together with others yet to be identified, allegedly confronted and attacked the police officers present at the location.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack are still underway.

The Police have cautioned that individuals who engage in attacks on officers will be traced, arrested and prosecuted, stressing that such conduct will not be tolerated and offenders will face the full consequences under the law.
