Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has paid a visit to Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu in France as the centre-back continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.
The AS Monaco defender sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a French Ligue 1 encounter against Olympique Lyonnais, an incident that has sidelined him for the rest of the season.
The setback is also expected to rule the 26-year-old out of contention for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Following a successful surgery, Addo met Salisu to offer encouragement and reassurance. The Black Stars coach used the opportunity to discuss Ghana’s World Cup ambitions while providing personal support as the defender begins the long road to recovery.
Prior to the injury, Salisu had established himself as a key figure in Monaco’s defence, delivering consistent performances in the absence of Soungoutou Magassa Mawissa and experienced campaigner Eric Dier. He featured in 12 matches across all competitions this season, contributing one goal.
Addo has recently adopted a proactive approach in maintaining close contact with his players, making similar visits to Abdul Mumin, Mohammed Kudus, Ernest Nuamah, and other Black Stars players recovering from various injuries.
The Black Stars coach is expected to announce his final World Cup squad on June 1.
