Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has called for the national team to be built around forward Antoine Semenyo.

The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form for AFC Bournemouth this season, netting 10 goals in 19 appearances.

“It is long overdue for the Black Stars to try and build the team around him [Semenyo],” Kingston told 3Sports.

“I know when he comes to the team, people complain that they don’t see what he is doing in the Premier League, but they should understand that different managers, different philosophies, different ideologies, but he is someone that Ghana should look up to, Ghana should build the team around him,” he added.

Kingston also drew comparisons with former teammate Matthew Amoah, praising Semenyo’s consistency, work rate, and versatility.

“If I had Semenyo in my team, he would be a weapon for me because of the abilities he has- he is fast, strong, and technically he is good, and his finishing trust me,” he said.

“I have played with a lot of players in the national team. My time, a player that maybe quarter chance we believe the ball is going to hit the back of the net is Matthew Amoah,” he added.

Semenyo, who has made 101 appearances for Bournemouth—scoring 29 goals and providing 10 assists in the Premier League—is on the verge of a £65 million move to Manchester City.
