The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the draw date for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Set to take place on Thursday, January 15, in Rabat, the draw will kick off at 13:00 GMT as 16 teams prepare for Africa’s premier women’s football tournament.
The Black Queens, who claimed bronze at the 2025 WAFCON, will be among the 16 nations competing not only for continental glory but also for a place at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
This edition of WAFCON will make history as the first to feature 16 teams since the competition began. Morocco will host the tournament for the second consecutive time, following the 2024 edition that saw Nigeria lift the trophy.
Ghana enters the draw in Pot 1, reflecting their third-place finish in the continent’s rankings last year.
The 16 teams set to compete are: Morocco (hosts), Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.
