The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has rewarded staff of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s (AMA) 24-hour Sanitation Office with cash donations in recognition of their tireless efforts to keep the capital clean around the clock.

The beneficiaries, including truck drivers and excavator operators, were honoured during the Assembly’s end-of-year get-together hosted by the Mayor at his residence. The event brought together staff from all sixteen AMA departments.

Addressing the staff, Hon. Allotey said the gesture was meant to show that leadership appreciation must go beyond words and be backed by action. He noted that while the cash reward could not fully match the sacrifices made by the sanitation workers, it was intended to assure them of the Assembly’s support and recognition of their dedication.

The Mayor also urged sanitation staff to uphold discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, stressing that sustained cleanliness in Accra requires commitment, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to improving sanitation operations across the metropolis as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public health and make Accra a cleaner, more orderly city.
