The Paramount Queen Mother of the Goaso Traditional Council in the Ahafo Region, Nana Afia Serwaa, has provided meals and essential items to 500 needy children as part of New Year celebrations.
Speaking to Adom News, Nana Afia Serwaa explained that the annual gesture, held every January 1, was initiated by the late Nana Kwasi Bosomprah to support and encourage vulnerable children, particularly orphans. She said she has continued the tradition to preserve its original purpose and bring joy to the children.

This year’s event saw the children receive second-hand clothing, drinks, biscuits, and assorted rice meals served with chicken.
Nana Afia Serwaa emphasized that the initiative is here to stay and called on individuals and organisations to support efforts aimed at feeding and clothing needy children. She also revealed plans to invite children from surrounding villages in future editions.
Parents, including Evelyn Mensah and Nafisa Isaka, who accompanied their children to the event, expressed gratitude to the Queen Mother and urged her to continue the initiative annually, noting that it helps children feel cared for and valued by the community.
