The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has confirmed that Abubakar Sadick, widely known as Cyborg, has been convicted and fined GH¢24,000 for unlawfully firing a firearm at the AfroFuture concert in Accra.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, December 31, CID Director-General, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, said the court-imposed fine has been fully settled.
She further disclosed that the court has withdrawn Sadick’s firearm licence.
The conviction follows his arrest after a video surfaced on social media showing him discharging several rounds during the event.
Sadick later admitted to the act but explained that he fired the weapon as a form of tribute to Nigerian musician Asake, who was on stage at the time.
Meanwhile, COP Donkor has stressed that the use of firearms in public spaces, even by licensed holders, constitutes a serious breach of the law and will attract strict sanctions.
