The Jasikan District Police have taken into custody a 23-year-old man, Innocent Owusu, over the suspected killing of his father, Peter Owusu, aged 59, at Likpe Abrani in the Oti Region.
In a statement, police said the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the family home. After the alleged incident, the suspect reportedly left the area.
Acting on intelligence, officers later traced and arrested Innocent Owusu at a hideout in a nearby forest close to Abrani.
Police confirmed that the body of the deceased has been retrieved and conveyed to the Hohoe Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and further examination.
The suspect remains in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be taken through the appropriate legal processes.
The Oti Regional Police Command praised residents of Likpe Abrani for their cooperation, noting that community support played a key role in the swift arrest.
The Command also expressed condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
