Fire personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Wednesday swiftly intervened after a distress call reporting a multiple-vehicle crash near the Kintampo Waterfalls.
The Service said it received the emergency alert at about 3:59 p.m., after which a rescue team was immediately dispatched to the location, arriving roughly an hour and a half later.
In total, 26 passengers were trapped and had to be rescued by firefighters, who worked to secure the area and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Three people sustained injuries and were quickly transported to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.

Officials at the scene found that several vehicles had been involved in a chain collision. Among them was a Mercedes Sprinter bus that had crashed into parked vehicles and caught fire in the process.
Preliminary information indicates that the accident happened while efforts were being made to tow a Kia Bongo truck that had slipped into a pit days earlier.

The towing operation reportedly triggered the sequence of collisions.

The GNFS has once again urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly during towing operations, to avoid preventable accidents.
