The matron, Nyamadi Benedicta and a cook of Awaso STEM Senior High School (SHS) have been arrested by the Sehwi Bekwai Police Command for allegedly diverting food items to a private residence at Atronsu in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
The suspects are alleged to have unlawfully transported large quantities of food supplies intended for students.
The items included 21 bags of rice, six gallons of cooking oil, 40 tins of tomatoes, four boxes of milk, one bag of sugar, and quantities of maize, millet, gari, and other essential foodstuffs.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Sebastian Obeng, confirmed the incident to Adom News.

Mr. Obeng disclosed that his office acted on intelligence suggesting that food items meant for Awaso STEM Senior High School had been traced to a private home at Atronsu.
He explained that the information was immediately passed on to the police, resulting in the arrest of some individuals and the successful recovery of the supplies.

The Member of Parliament for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality, Bright Asamoah Brefo, stated that appropriate action would be taken to ensure that anyone found culpable is dealt with in accordance with the law.

He noted that the action would serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate similar acts in schools across the country.
