Lilian Owusu, widow of the late Ejisu Member of Parliament John Kumah, has opened up about how she met her new husband, describing the encounter as love at first sight and an answer to prayer.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service held after their wedding, Mrs Aryeetey (née Owusu) told church members that she met her husband unexpectedly while attending church for business-related purposes.

According to her, she had never met him before and did not anticipate that the encounter would mark a new chapter in her life.

“I believe in forward ever, backward never. I didn’t know him, and I had never met him anywhere. I was only here for business purposes, and it was love at first sight as soon as he saw me,” she said.

Reflecting on her journey after the passing of her husband, Lilian explained that she made a conscious decision not to let grief define her. Through prayer, she resolved to move forward, trusting God to restore her joy.

“When you are crying, God gives you something to wipe your tears. I prayed and made up my mind to move forward. I won’t allow pain to cage me. I have a lot to do,” she shared.

She revealed that following the one-year anniversary of her late husband’s death, she, together with her pastors, embarked on a period of prayer and fasting, specifically asking God for companionship and support.

“We prayed for a father, a man to comfort me, my children and my mother. God listened and responded by giving us a humble and kind man,” she said.

However, Lilian was quick to clarify that her new husband does not replace her late spouse but supports her in continuing life’s journey. She added that her decision to say yes to her new husband was inspired by his character, describing him as bold, hardworking and visionary.

The disclosure drew emotional reactions from congregants, who joined her in thanking God for healing and hope beyond loss.
