The Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has engaged entrepreneurs in the region as part of efforts to boost business growth and economic development.
The forum, held in Goaso, featured extensive sensitisation led by the Regional Planning Officer, who outlined available opportunities and practical strategies for business expansion.
Addressing participants, the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, highlighted the vast business potential in the region, particularly in agriculture, mining and tourism.
She noted that Ahafo is predominantly an agricultural region and disclosed that the Minister for Food and Agriculture, who hails from the area, is working to strengthen agribusiness by ensuring that all districts are equipped with Farmer Service Centres. According to her, these centres will provide farmers with technical knowledge, training and support to improve productivity.
On mining, the Regional Minister urged prospective investors to adhere strictly to legal processes in acquiring the necessary documentation, stressing the need for responsible and regulated mining activities in the region.
Some entrepreneurs, including Eric Opoku and Grace Ampofo, in separate interviews with Adom News, commended the RCC and the Regional Minister for organising the forum. However, they expressed concern over limited access to funding, which they described as a major constraint to expanding their businesses.
They appealed to the Regional Minister to intensify efforts to create financing opportunities for local entrepreneurs, similar to those available to business owners in major cities, to help grow enterprises and reduce unemployment in the region.
