Residents of Akroso Newtown in the Eastern Region have been left counting their losses after a fire destroyed a self-contained residential apartment, consuming a chamber-and-hall unit and its contents.

The blaze, which caused panic among neighbours, was quickly brought under control by firefighters from the Akim Akroso Fire Station. Their timely response prevented the fire from spreading to other houses in the densely built community.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, the affected room suffered extensive damage, but fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine what triggered the incident.
