The Chief Fire Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Daniella Mawusi Ntow, has issued a one-week ultimatum to selected institutions to fully comply with fire safety regulations.
The affected institutions include Total Energies, Ecobank and Papaye, all located in Osu. Officer Ntow said safety compliance officers will return after one week to conduct follow-up inspections to confirm that the required measures have been implemented.
The directive forms part of a surprise fire safety sweep being carried out by the GNFS in parts of Accra ahead of the launch of the 24-hour Economy initiative.
Officers have already inspected the Total Energies fuel station in Osu and are currently conducting checks at the Ecobank branch in the same area.
At each location, fire officers carry out thorough inspections and educate staff on essential fire safety and preventive measures.
Officer Ntow also urged all Ghanaians to strictly observe fire safety practices, especially during the festive season, to help prevent fire outbreaks and protect lives and property.
