The Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Ruth Dela Seddoh, has pledged to eliminate the phenomenon of “ghost names” in the national service system, insisting that such practices will not be tolerated under her leadership.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Madam Seddoh said she is determined to protect public funds and ensure transparency in the administration of national service.
“I will fight with my last breath to ensure that there are no longer any ghost names at the NSA under the new system,” she declared.
She revealed that out of approximately 155,000 persons who registered for national service, 92,000 have so far been verified.
According to Madam Seddoh, the ongoing verification and reforms in postings have helped the Authority save the state significant amounts of money that would otherwise have been lost to fraudulent practices.
“Why should we allow taxpayers’ money to find its way into the pockets of some unscrupulous people?” she questioned.
Madam Seddoh expressed optimism that the new system will bring lasting credibility and efficiency to the National Service Authority.
