The Ghana National Fire Service in Obuasi has received a new fire tender to boost its emergency response capacity and enhance firefighting operations in the municipality.

The addition of the tender is expected to strengthen the service’s ability to combat fire outbreaks in Obuasi and surrounding areas.

Speaking to Adom News, Managing Director Samuel Pobee said the intervention followed concerns raised by fire service commanders about the inadequacy of existing equipment, which he described as “not fit for purpose.”

He explained that the company decided to donate one of its own fire tenders to support the community, emphasizing the need for proper maintenance to ensure its long-term use. Mr. Pobee also called on the Obuasi West Municipal Chief Executive and fire service leadership to assist in maintaining the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Obuasi Municipal Fire Commander, DO II Atubiga Matthew, expressed gratitude for the donation, describing the fire tender as one of the service’s most urgent needs. He noted that the additional tender would significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of firefighting operations in the municipality.
