Alex Nartey, Founder of the Institute of Paralegal Training and Leadership Studies (IPLS), has called on stakeholders in Ghana’s justice sector to collaborate more closely to bolster private dispute resolution systems.

He emphasized that Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is vital for expanding access to justice and alleviating the burden on courts.

Speaking at the 2025 IPLS Graduation Ceremony in Accra, Mr. Nartey—an ADR expert—stressed that Ghana’s justice delivery cannot function effectively without a strong and reliable private dispute resolution framework. He urged practitioners, institutions, and policymakers to champion the growth of ADR, describing it as essential for timely, affordable, and fair justice.

The graduation ceremony, held under the theme “Justice Made Accessible: The Power of Skilled ADR and Paralegal Practitioners,” brought together legal professionals, dignitaries, students, and families as 139 new ADR and paralegal practitioners were inducted.

Delivering the keynote address, Apostle Prof. Joseph Teye Buertey, Dean at Pentecost University, encouraged graduates to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, emphasizing that the ADR field demands integrity, discipline, and ethical conduct.

Rector of IPLS, Theresa Afua Brown, expressed confidence that the graduates are fully equipped to serve communities across the country, promoting fairness and justice in their roles.

Special guest awardee, Samuel Aryeequaye, Secretary General of Diplomatic Envoy Globalization in New York, praised the institute’s impact and called on the government to introduce similar training opportunities in tertiary institutions to strengthen the national justice framework.

Graduates expressed appreciation to IPLS and pledged to use their skills to expand access to justice, particularly in underserved communities. Among the graduates were professionals completing Executive Master programs in ADR, Labour and Industrial Law, and Family and Dispute Resolution.
