I am shocked – Otto Addo expresses concern over Francis Abu’s injury

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has expressed deep concern over Francis Abu’s serious injury during Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Japan in the Kirin Cup at Toyota Stadium on Friday.

The Toulouse midfielder was stretchered off after appearing to break his ankle while attempting to clear a ball, with Alidu Seidu replacing him.

Speaking after the match, Addo shared his shock and sympathy for Abu.

“Sometimes you go into a duel, sometimes too hard, and you are so unlucky. But this is also part of football, and I really appreciate that the player came to say sorry. I don’t take it for granted. Like I said, this is part of football. We hope it’s not too serious, but to be honest, it doesn’t look good,” he said.

The full extent of Abu’s injury remains unclear, though reports indicate the 25-year-old could face several months on the sidelines.

Ghana will now turn their focus to their next fixture, taking on South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, at 10:00 am in the final friendly of the November international window.
