President John Mahama has visited injured individuals at the 37 Military Hospital following a tragic stampede at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra during the ongoing Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise.

The bodies of six people who lost their lives in the incident have been deposited at the hospital morgue.

The President was accompanied by Acting Minister for Defence Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Deputy Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi, Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and other government officials.

The unfortunate stampede occurred on the morning of Wednesday, November 12, 2025, before the scheduled screening began. Preliminary investigations indicate that the surge of applicants breached security barriers and rushed through the gates around 6:20 a.m., triggering the chaos.

The injured are currently receiving emergency medical treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.

GAF has extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
