Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that no winning bonuses have been allocated for the Black Stars’ upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Asante Twum explained that the players will receive only their per diems, noting that the matches are not competitive fixtures.
“There will be no winning bonuses for the Black Stars players for the Japan and South Korea friendly games — only per diems,” he stated.
He further revealed that the host nations are bearing the full cost of the friendlies.
“These games for the Black Stars are funded by the host countries — Japan and South Korea,” he added.
The national team is currently in Asia as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ghana will face Japan on Friday, November 14, before playing South Korea on November 18.
Head coach Otto Addo has named a 22-man squad for the tour, with 18 players already in camp in Nagoya, while the remaining invitees are expected to join later today.
The Black Stars are also set to hold their first training session today, November 12, ahead of their Kirin Cup clash against Japan.
