Entertainment journalist and radio host Doreen Avio has called on Ghanaians to show stronger support for female musicians, highlighting the significant strides women are making in the music industry.

Citing Gyakie, Wendy Shay, and Cina Soul as examples, Avio praised their recent albums—After Midnight, Ready, and Did I Lie—describing them as powerful testaments to creativity, growth, and resilience.

In a Facebook post, the Daybreak Hitz host on Hitz FM declared 2025 “a season for the Queens,” urging fans and industry stakeholders to actively champion female artistes.

“The women are moving strong, and the spotlight is right where it belongs. Gyakie, Wendy Shay, and Cina Soul have each stepped forward with powerful new albums that speak volumes of artistry, growth, and resilience,” she wrote.

Avio noted that the albums have received massive airplay and streaming traction, reflecting a positive response from audiences.

“All three albums are receiving massive airplay and streams across platforms. The people are listening, and the culture is responding,” she added.

She also encouraged the inclusion of these artistes in major award categories, such as Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year, stressing that their work deserves industry-wide recognition.

“But this is where we come in. It’s time to support them at every stage, every playlist, every interview, and every social push. Their names and their music deserve to be heard, seen, and celebrated,” she emphasized.

Avio further called on women across the creative sector—including musicians, producers, media personalities, and fans—to unite in amplifying the achievements of female artistes.

“To every woman in the space, let’s rally behind these queens and make their success echo across the industry,” she urged.
