Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has reaffirmed his unwavering integrity and commitment to justice and fairness, highlighting that his 33 years of service in the Judiciary reflect his dedication and character.
Speaking during his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, November 10, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie emphasised that integrity has been the foundation of both his judicial career and personal life.
“I have integrity, and everything I have done shows,” he stated confidently. “From the day I joined the Judiciary 33 years ago, I have lived by the oath I swore — to do right to all manner of persons without fear or favour, affection or ill will.”
The Supreme Court judge noted that his extensive experience, including his tenure on the country’s highest court, had tested but ultimately reinforced his commitment to impartiality and the rule of law.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie assured the Committee that, if confirmed as Chief Justice, he would continue to uphold judicial independence and strengthen public confidence in the courts.
“My goal is to strengthen the integrity of the institution I have served for over three decades. The Judiciary must remain a beacon of justice and a guardian of our democracy,” he affirmed.
