Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has lauded his players for their resilience and fighting spirit following their hard-fought victory over Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors edged their arch-rivals 1-0 in Sunday’s Matchday 9 fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium, thanks to a decisive first-half strike from Guinean forward Morifing Donzo.
In his post-match remarks, Zito admitted the encounter was a stern test, but credited his players’ mental strength for securing the crucial win.
“Everybody knows Hearts and Kotoko, how difficult it is. You see the supporters today, everybody is happy,” he said.
“It was very difficult, but the mindset was there to win this game because winning this game would help us towards our objective,” Zito added.
The result extends Kotoko’s unbeaten run to six matches this season. They now occupy 7th place on the league table with 14 points.
The Kumasi giants will next face Vision FC in their outstanding midweek fixture before hosting Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium for Matchday 10.
