Council 94 and Court 90, Adentan of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, has made a cash donation to the Surgical Breast Cancer Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The donation was to pay for the chemotherapy of breast cancer patients who are unable to pay for their treatments.
The donation formed part of activities marking the Pink October to raise awareness on breast cancer.
The delegation was led by the Grand Knight of Council 94, Bro Martin Tettey Nartey Jnr and the Noble Lady of Court 90, Sis Gifty Maloe NNartey.
Making the presentation, the Noble Lady, Sis Nartey said that as a friendly Catholic society, the Marshallans were not only interested in the eternal salvation of people but also in their wellbeing as well.
She said the donation was to support the vulnerable who are undergoing chemotherapy but find it difficult to pay for the treatment.
She said the society therefore finds prudent to alleviate their plight by giving the money to the unit to cover the cost of the treatment for those in need.
The Senior Nursing Officer in charge of the surgical oncology unit, Mrs. Augusta Gening, who received the donation, on behalf of the unit, was grateful to the Marshallans for the gesture, which she said would help put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.
She prayed that the society would regularly come to the aid of the patients and would not make the donation one of one.
The delegation later toured the facility and interacted with some of the patients.
