Mahama swears in new Right to Information Commission

President John Mahama has sworn in the newly appointed members of the Right to Information (RTI) Commission, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in governance.

The Commission will be chaired by Dr. James Asante, with Christina Edmund serving as Vice Chairperson. Other members include Kobby Woyome, Aba Edusah, Angela Emefa Kpegah, and Shirley Lartey, who also serves as Executive Secretary, alongside Chris Dugan.

The RTI Commission is tasked with overseeing the effective implementation of the Right to Information Act, ensuring citizens’ access to public information and fostering openness across state institutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama emphasized the Commission’s pivotal role in deepening accountability and building public confidence in state institutions.

“The Commission is key to fostering accountability and strengthening citizens’ trust in governance,” he said, urging members to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
