Versatile musician Sista Afia has revealed one of the most shocking moments of her career, recounting an incident when a male fan allegedly groped her as she was about to perform.
The Jeje hitmaker said the fan grabbed her so forcefully while she was making her way to the stage through a crowded audience that she was left stunned.
“In the moment, all I could think of was to defend myself. I hit him with the microphone so hard that he ended up in the hospital,” Sista Afia recounted.
She added, “I hate it when people try to touch me when I’m going on stage, especially fans. One time, someone pressed me so hard—I think it was my front bit—that I lost it. The first thing I did was act to protect myself.”
According to Sista Afia, the incident was not widely reported at the time, allowing it to fade from public attention. She also noted that while event staff were present, organisers do not always maintain effective crowd control, particularly at less organised shows.
She made the disclosure while discussing some of the challenges she has faced since becoming a performer.
