Residents of the Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region have expressed relief and appreciation following the government’s decision to revise the curfew hours in the area.
The curfew, which previously lasted from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., will now take effect from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
This adjustment comes after recommendations from the Oti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Nkwanta South Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC), which advised the Interior Ministry to ease restrictions in response to improved security conditions.
Residents who spoke to Adom News thanked the Minister for the Interior and regional security authorities for heeding their long-standing appeals.
They, however, called for further reviews of the curfew in the future to allow local businesses to operate more freely and boost economic activity in the municipality.
