Former Bibiani GoldStars coach, Frimpong Manso, has questioned Asante Kotoko’s readiness and overall quality ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup return leg against Wydad Athletic Club.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 1-0 home defeat to the Moroccan giants in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium last week.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Fire for Fire, Manso expressed concern about Kotoko’s chances of overturning the deficit, insisting the North Africans possess superior quality.
“Wydad Athletic Club are ahead of Asante Kotoko in terms of quality, and we should accept that,” he stated.
He added that Kotoko’s ambition to reclaim their lost glory on the continental stage would require patience and long-term rebuilding.
“Asante Kotoko are trying to restore their name in African football, but it will not happen in a day or a year,” Manso noted.
The Ghanaian giants departed Accra on Wednesday, October 23, with a 20-man squad, hoping to pull off an upset on Friday and book their place in the group stage of the competition.
