At least one person has been injured and eight others left homeless following an alleged demolition exercise carried out by individuals said to be led by the Kasoa Municipal Chief Executive’s (MCE) bodyguard, popularly known as “Stopper.”
The incident reportedly occurred around 3 a.m. at Akweley Peace Town in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
According to residents, a group of men dressed in military and national security uniforms stormed the area and demolished a four-bedroom house, as well as the foundations of an additional six-bedroom structure.
Eyewitnesses told Adom News that the group arrived with a grader, broke down a fence wall, and destroyed several properties.
One of the victims alleged that he was struck on the leg with a shovel during the chaos, while another woman claimed she was so terrified she lost control of her bladder.
The displaced residents are calling for justice, insisting that the demolition was unlawful and carried out without warning or court authorisation.
A traditional leader of Kasoa, Nai Ansah Oshimpo, also appealed to the MCE to intervene, accusing the said bodyguard of using his influence to intimidate and dispossess residents of their lands.
“The MCE must call his bodyguard to order. He’s been terrorising innocent people and taking their lands,” he said.
Meanwhile, “Stopper,” the alleged leader of the group, has denied any involvement in the incident, describing the accusations as false and intended to tarnish his reputation.
The Kasoa Police Command is yet to comment on the matter as investigations continue.
