Tension at Ablekuma Fanmilk after Okada rider allegedly knocks down policewoman [Video]

-

A confrontation erupted at Ablekuma Fanmilk on Wednesday night after a motor rider from Omanjor allegedly knocked down a policewoman identified as Rosemary, who is also a lactating mother.

The incident reportedly occurred when the Okada rider, who operates within the Omanjor area, hit the officer with his motorbike, leaving her unconscious.

Both the rider and the policewoman were quickly rushed to Mab Hospital at Ablekuma Fanmilk for emergency treatment.

Witnesses told Adom News that friends of the motor rider later arrived at the hospital and moved him to another medical facility. In response, some residents of Fanmilk seized the motorbike involved in the crash.

Shortly after, a group of Omanjor Okada riders stormed the area in an attempt to retrieve the seized bike, sparking heated exchanges and confusion between them and the residents.

The motorbike, reportedly bearing registration number M-24-GW 1828, was said to have been operating without functioning lights for about a week. Residents claim that the same stretch of road has witnessed multiple motorcycle accidents recently.

They are, therefore, appealing to the Ga Central Municipal Assembly to speed up the construction of the Fanmilk–Sowutuom Road, which they say has become a hotspot for accidents due to its poor condition.
