
Four persons have sustained injuries after a National Ambulance Service vehicle from Nkawkaw was involved in an accident at Afosu in the Birim North Municipality on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
According to the New Abirem Municipal Fire Station, a distress call was received at 2:30 p.m., prompting the dispatch of a seven-member rescue team led by LFM Tenkorang Ofori Prince.

Preliminary reports indicate that the ambulance, registered GV-567-20, suffered brake failure and somersaulted several times before landing on its side.
All four occupants were rescued and rushed to the New Abirem Government Hospital for treatment.
Firefighters also cleared the road of blood stains and recovered key medical equipment, including a ventilator, cardiac monitor, fire extinguisher, chest compression device, stethoscope, and telephone.
The Ghana Police Service was on-site to assist with traffic management as investigations continue into the cause of the crash.
