
The Minister for Transport, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, has announced that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has cleared a backlog of more than 440,000 unprinted driver’s licence cards.
He explained that as of December 2024, the DVLA had accumulated 440,000 pending licences, but all have now been printed and dispatched to offices nationwide for collection.
“As at December 2024, the DVLA had a backlog of 440,000 unprinted driver licence cards. Currently, all those backlog cards have been printed and dispatched to the various DVLA offices for collection,” Mr. Bukari confirmed.
He also revealed that an additional 26,045 cards are in the final stages of lamination and will soon be distributed.
“A total of 26,045 cards are currently undergoing lamination and will be delivered shortly,” the Minister stated.
This development is expected to significantly ease frustrations among applicants who have faced long delays in acquiring their licences.
